Looking for a new home

Bogart & Bounty are 7 1/2 year old brother & sister (both neutered) who are looking for a new home. Their current owners will be relocating in January to a smaller house and can't take the dogs with them.
They do not want any payment, but would love for them to be rehomed together, as they have never been apart in 7 1/2 years.
Bogart & Bounty come with two high quality water resistant washable beds, 2 stainless, steel bowls, two trampoline mats plus their brushes, combs etc. They are fully immunised, and up to date in intestinal, heartworm and flea treatment.
They have lovely gentle temperaments. Bounty is the boss and Bogart just does as he's told!! They have both been given a clean bill of health.
If you would like to discuss the possibility of rehoming them, please call Sue on 02 4632 7188 or Jean on 0411 318 193.

We have some new rescue stories some may make you cry while others will bring a smile to your face.
Just a little about what we have been doing regarding rescue, calls still come through from distraught people who are no longer able to keep their Collie and they ask if we can help. Thanks to the website and word of mouth we have been able to help facilitate new homes for these poor dogs.
First there is the story of Charlie who was one such lucky fellow, just before Christmas the lady looking after him had acquired him due to unfortunate circumstances and was unable to keep him indefinately, as luck would have it an email had come through the day before from a family who were hoping to acquire a rescue collie after losing their friend and companion Teddy a Newfoundland, their Vet had advised them to euthanase Teddy at an early age due to a heart condition. However, they wouldn't hear of it and decided that Teddy would receive medication and hopefully live a full and active life doing what he loved, walking daily and swimming in the creek on their 40 acre property situated between Taree and Port Macquarie. Despite the Vets opinion that Teddy would die young he lived his full 11 years and remained active throughout. Charlie has been welcomed into their family and is settling in well.
Just a few days into the New Year, news came through that an older tri girl had been found wandering the streets, she was in good condition but her pads were quite worn, fortunately she was reunited with her owners, she had been frightened by fire crackers and got out of her yard, lucky for her she didn't come to any real harm. So please remember to secure your dogs during the New Years celebrations or anytime there are fireworks.
Rusty is a 3 year old sable female who was rescued by a kind lady called Phoebe just minutes before her life was to be cut short. She had been living with a couple who were never home and as a result she was constantly escaping from the yard and ended up in the Pound. Phoebe was unable to keep her as her neighbour breeds racehorses and Rusty was fond of running up to the fence to say "hi" to them, the horses were frightened and as a result the neighbour threatened to shoot her! Eventually rescue found her a new home where there are no horses and a secure fence around the yard. Phoebe misses her terribly but she is happy that Rusty now has her forever home.
These are just some of the happy endings. Judy Findlay and her husband Robert are also doing a wonderful job of rescuing and rehoming Collies through DCH Animal Adoption. Judy has a number of Collies all rescues and all very much loved members of the family.
Collie Rescue is a project of the Collie Club of NSW. Unfortunately we are occasionally notified of Collies who, for various reasons, find themselves in the pound with an uncertain future if they are not claimed by their owners.
All dogs rehomed through our Rescue Service will be vaccinated, micro-chipped, lifetime registered and desexed before going to their new homes, in turn we ask for a donation to help assist with our expenses.
Most people are unaware that COLLIE RESCUE means that the animal has been in the pound for either 7 days if not microchipped, or 14 days if microchipped and that the animal has not been claimed or sold in this time frame. They are then to be euthanased. Only at this point can Rescue step in and claim the animal. We put our name on the animal when we hear that a Collie is in the pound but are not able to claim them until they reach the RESCUE stage. All rescues have been on death row for no reason other than being unwanted and Collie Rescue gives them a second chance at life.
Rescue animals know that they have been saved from the needle and they in return are very loyal and loving animals. In the beginning it is not easy and you need lots of patience, love and understanding. These animals have been badly mistreated and neglected by their previous owners and they are scared, insecure and very confused. They don’t know what to expect of their new environment and are waiting to be treated the same. It is a very hard road for them but at the end you will be the winner with such a loving, loyal, beautiful Collie as a family member. In the past we have rescued and successfully rehomed a number of Collies.
Penny, a lovely natured collie (rough)
Penny is a lovely natured collie (rough). Her coat was in such a dreadful state that there was no alternative but to shave it off!..... But it will grow back and become her crowning glory, this coupled with her charming personality will ensure that she wins the hearts of all who meet her. She is approximately 5 years old and is just waiting to become part of your family. Her owners simply didn’t want her and she was due to be euthanased, but we think she deserves a second chance.
Good news - Penny has a home!
